kandinsky

Seeing like Kandinsky

How to—discuss
Talk about—something
Anything—“non-linear”
Like—Simultaneity?

Multiple—POV’s?
Les Demoiselles—d’Avignon?
African masks—classic nudes?
Cubist—Barcelona boyfriends?

Kandinsky’s—paintings?
Mysterious—Composition #7?
All the—improvisations?
Leading up—to it?

Parataxis—parallel views?
Instead of—perspectives?
Narrative—without closure?
Cleavage—three ways?

(Imho, seeing like Kandinsky or Picasso is like being Ray Milland the Man with the X-ray Eyes. Being able to see Composition #7 as a "room" with lots of simultaneities going on. The same with Gris' Table; no wonder Stein was in love with his work. How to combine cubism with poetry? Is literary cubism possible? I've read a lot of secondaire lit about it. I just dunno know how it works. I do know cleaves are "spontaneous" for me. Which is probably what to expect from a "simultaneity." Mac Low's "dialogic" poems are that way. Picasso's Les Demoiselles d’Avignon is that way. Stein's Tender Buttons is that way. "Neptune Theater" is that way. Kandinsky's Composition #7 is that way. It's almost as if you create a "space" for it to happen. Whatever it is, it likes surprises. Novelty. I suppose if I were a bored eternal being... perhaps I'd want a little newness & nonsense now & then? Maybe kinda sometimes?) :-)
